On the eve of an important public hearing by the independent DOE oversight panel – Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB), the Alliance for Nuclear Accountability (ANA – umbrella organization for non-profit groups around DOE sites , including SRS Watch) – sends letter to Secretary of Energy Perry on “Need to rescind or hold in abeyance DOE Order 140.1 Interface with the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board at Each of the DOE Nuclear Security Sites”

DNFSB notice – linked here – on August 28, 2018 public hearing – ANA was representated at the hearing.  The director of Energy Communities Alliance (ECA) spoke in the public comment period and asked for a “pause” in implementation of the order. Webcast archived here:

“On August 28, the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB) will hold a public hearing at its Washington, DC Headquarters. DNFSB’s goal is to gather information on:
(1) objectives of DOE Order 140.1, Interface with the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board;
(2) DNFSB access to information, facilities, and personnel; and
(3) potential impacts to the DNFSB resident inspector program.”
