On April 10, 2026, DOE’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) released the draft Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEIS) on the impacts of plutonium “pit” – nuclear warhead bomb cores.

Thanks to those of you who submitted comments in  DOE notice on “categorical exclusions,” designed to avoid compliance with NEPA for “advanced nuclear reactors” and associated waste management.
