The annual final safety report for the Nuclear Ship Savannah was publicly posted by the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission on May 10, 2021. The NS Savannah, defueled for decades, was the nation’s first and only nuclear-powered commercial vessel. Despite her beauty, she stands as a monument to the failure of launching a fleet of such commercial vessels. She remains docked in Baltimore, Maryland and efforts to turn her into a floating museum continue.

The NS Savannah was towed to Baltimore in 2008 and the Sturgis towed off to be dismantled. The NS Savannah was taken to dry dock in Philadelphia in September 2019 for repairs but was returned in February 2020 to Pier 13, Canton Marine Terminal at 4601
