SRS Watch in “Coverup charged at MOX plant”

Washington is covering up a failed $51 billion plutonium fuel project 40 minutes from Lexington County.
“That’s the contention of nuclear watchdogs at the Savannah River Site Watch.
“There is still no accountability to the taxpaying public,” said Tom Clements of the watchdog group.
Savannah River Site Watch has obtained new aerial photos of the construction site near Aiken.
The photos were legally taken last month by an anonymous pilot who goes by the name High Flyer.
“The Department of Energy’s grossly mismanaged MOX project is a textbook case of big government’s inability to manage a costly, complex project,” he said.
MOX or mixed oxide is a nuclear fuel containing depleted uranium as an alternative to low-enriched uranium used in nuclear power plant reactors.
“Investigations into fraud, waste, abuse and mismanagement are urgently needed before any discussion of repurposing the partially finished MOX building turns into an unfunded, unauthorized plutonium bomb plant for nuclear weapons,” he said.
The SC Congressional delegation including Lindsey Graham and Joe Wilson backed the project as necessary for national defense.”
