As DOE and Other Federal Agencies Staunchly Refuse to Create an On-Line Library and Post Documents Key to Public Understanding of Publicly Funded Operations, We Have to Use FOIA and Other Methods to Find Out What They are Up To!
Recent SRS Watch FOIA requests:
1. Initial response by SRS to a request for the FY 2018 Nuclear Materials Management Plan, dated August 16, 2018 – linked here
2. Initial response by SRS to a request for the “Work for Others” agreement with Germany, concerning pursuit of the misguided processing and dumping at SRS of highly radioactive German spent fuel; see dollar amount in response; dated August 16, 2018 – linked here
We are hopeful for a response in the stated 3-60 days, though DOE can block responses and illegally sit on valid FOIA requests for years.
3. Request to the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) for a contract with uranium enrichment company URENCO USA and for a review of use of “unobligated uranium” for production of tritium gas – for US nuclear weapons – in TVA reactors, request dated August 22, 2018 – linked here
FOIA acknowledgement letter from National Nuclear Security Administration’s Office of General Counsel, September 4, 2018 –

4. Request to DOE’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) for “interagency agreement” with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and “Secretarial Determination” on HEU downblending for “national security missions” (irradiation in TVA’s commercial Watts Bar Nuclear Bomb Reactor – WBNBR – to produce radioactive tritium gas for nuclear weapons – tritium rods processed at SRS), request dated August 24, 2018 – linked here

Do you think media will engage itself in such issues, which would involve some degree of investigative reporting? Sadly, that’s unlikely these days as most SRS “reporting” stems from corporate news releases or from the mouth of DOE or special interests at SRS that specialize in making make a sweet buck off taxpayers.
