On September 13, 2018 the US House passed US DOE funding for Fiscal Year 2019. As the Senate has already passed the appropriations funding it now goes to the president to be signed into law. This means that a massive cut in the plutonium fuel (MOX) boondoggle from $340 million to $220 million will begin on October 1, 2018 – watch for big layoffs of workers and a further downsizing in the failed project.
SRS Watch supports a good severance package for MOX workers but workers and unions need to be speaking up loudly for themselves!
