Here’s more proof that DOE’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) is once again engaged in a “planning” process for the proposed Plutonium Bomb Plant (PBP) at SRS that is already off to a very bumpy start. Watch things get worse as they try to jam the complicated pit fabrication mission onto SRS, which has absolutely no pit experience, and into a facility – the terminated MOX plant – that is poorly constructed and not designed for pit production. Uh, what about all that bad piping, improperly installed HVAC system and faulty through-wall penetrations…?

“The head of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) would not rule out the possibility here Thursday that one of the agency’s two planned plutonium pit factories could independently supply all the fissile nuclear weapon cores initially required for planned refurbishments of U.S. nuclear weapons.”
