“Pledge to Be a Voice for Peace and Science”
– from the Union of Concerned Scientist on the plutonium pit Programmatic EIS (that we won via federal lawsuit) – receive information updates, especially about commenting once the draft PEIS is out in spring 2026:

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) is conducting a Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEIS) for the production of plutonium pits, the explosive cores of nuclear weapons that a report by the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) shows is unnecessary, expensive, and potentially dangerous.
The NNSA has repeatedly ignored community concerns and limited public input during the regulatory process for nuclear weapons production. Congress is currently trying to circumvent the PEIS process by mandating the manufacturing of new plutonium pits before communities across the country have had a chance to weigh in.
However, there will be a court-mandated comment period in 2026 when the NNSA releases its draft PEIS. Each comment is recorded and documented.
Pledge today to comment on the draft PEIS report. These comments become an important part of the public record regarding plutonium pit production. We will provide the resources to make your voice heard when the time comes. Together we can slow the arms race and the dangerous, expensive and unnecessary production of new nuclear war heads.
Along with Nuke Watch New Mexico, Tri Valley Cares, and other community grassroots partners, UCS is committed to making sure everyone can provide input for the record on this unnecessary project.
