SRS Watch director Tom Clements garners community service award in Columbia, South Carolina. Craig Currey, head of the Transitions homeless center, and a representative of United Way, presented the award at a luncheon on April 7, 2021.
The award was for volunteering in the 2020-2021 season (Nov. 1 – April 1) at the “Inclement Weather Center” (aka “winter shelter”) for homeless people in Columbia. Tom worked every evening for the 77 nights the shelter was open this season, doing various tasks, including giving away bags to people in which to carry their possession. This is his 6th season volunteering there.
