More FOIAs filed by SRS Watch – for MOX lessons learned & NNSA performance reviews
A second Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request has been filed by SRS Watch for “lesson learned” by DOE from the debacle in construction of the plutonium fuel (MOX) plant at SRS. An initial FOIA request yield some documents by DOE inexplicably withheld some documents and SRS Watch thus filed a 2nd FOIA request. Once more documents are obtained – watch DOE slow walk the response (as usual) – we’ll analyze if DOE learned anything of substance in its poor management of the waste of $5 billion on MOX construction.
Congress must still hold hearings on the poor management of the MOX project by DOE and contracts. But so far, DOE and Congress have tried to sweep the debacle under the run and walk away (with bundles of our cash).

Additionally, two FOIAs were filed for o n November 21, 2022 “performance evaluation reviews (PERs) by NNSA at DOE sites. These reviews, in full, have often been withheld from the public (to hide problems) and must be posted. They are used to evaluate contractor performance in payment of a bonus fee and often are just pro forma giveaway to contractors for simply meeting contracted objectives. Rarely problems can be seen with contractor performance, as what happened with the MOX boondoggle.
