“The US government poured $8 billion dollars down the drain when politics and poor planning left its efforts to dispose of Cold War-era plutonium at the Savannah River Site a failure. Now, it wants to produce plutonium pits at the site.”
[Those plutonium “pits,” or cores of nuclear warheads, are for new nuclear warheads and maintaining 4000 active warheads – this is not a “deterrent” force, rather it’s for fighting a nuclear war and engaging in a nuclear arms race with Russia and China. Could it be that the contractors in the military-industrial complex, out to make a hug profit, are behind this? Hmmm….just sayin’!]
