Will a permanent stop work order be issued by August 13 – 90 days after the May 14 “partial stop work order” – to halt all construction on the the failed MOX project? We understand that no new commodities are now being installed, meaning that the snail’s pace of construction has ground to a halt. Until a formal halt to all construction, will MOX workers be engaged in make-work activities such as cleaning pipes and duct work? At least workers are being paid but politicians like Senator Lindsey Graham and Rep. Joe Wilson have shown no concern about workers and their families and only care about shoveling taxpayer money to the poorly performing MOX debacle contractors.
Key MOX fiasco termination documents – from May 10:
1. DOE’s “Surplus Plutonium Disposition Dilute and Dispose Option Independent Cost Estimate (ICE) Report – obtained by the Union of Concerned Scientists – report linked here
2. Secretary of Energy Perry’s letter to Congress “waiving” congressional requirement to spend money on MOX construction – full authority to terminate MOX was given to Sec. Perry by Congress – letter linked here

The MOX SCAM being terminated – but where are the Investigations into Fraud, Waste, Abuse, Mismanagement and Lack of Oversight by Management in DOE/NNSA and by Contractors?
Attention MOX workers: We are speaking up for your families when we can, filling the void left by politicians such as Senator Lindsey Graham, Representative Joe Wilson and Governor Henry McMaster. They have gone stone cold silent when it comes to impacts to workers. It’s been clear all along that they have only cared about getting money to managers and the contractors. Once MOX Services tells you what’s happening at “all hands” meetings, please let us know: srswatch@gmail.com.
Readers, as you know, for years we have been predicting that the MOX boondoggle was not financially or technically viable and would terminated. The day of reckoning for MOX, and the endless abuse of tax payers by DOE and MOX contractors, has arrived.
If you have information about the termination plans for the badly bungled MOX project – now known as EX-MOX – please pass them on. In particular, how will workers be treated and what are the steps toward termination & closure, which DOE claims will cost $1 billion? Will workers get severance pay & will other jobs at SRS be found for them & will job fairs be held? If you know details of FBI involvement and the needed investigations into waste, fraud, abuse, mismanagement and lack of oversight please let us know.

We are getting a good sense of what will happen next. Stay tuned.
