Irradiated research reactor fuel from Finland’s FiR reactor was recently shipped into the U.S. port of Savannah, Georgia and then transported cross county to a TRIGA reactor in Denver, Colorado operated by the U.S. Geologic Survey (under the U.S. Department of Interior). The shipment was a commercial transaction not involving DOE. If anyone obtains the import license that was issued by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission please pass it on.
According to Marine Traffic, the UK-flagged Pacific Grebe arrived in Savannah in late January 2021 and docked in its home port of Barrow-in-Furness, England on February 22.
